Why Pamplin?

  • Experiential Learning

Our graduates are attractive to employers because many have had real world, hands-on experience. Select from a wide variety of work-opportunities, internships, workshops, and seminars with top business leaders.

  • International Experience

If you have an international vision, consider our global business concentration, or venture into one of our study abroad programs. In recent years, students have traveled, studied, and worked with companies in England, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, China, Japan, and Vietnam.

  • Business Experience

Build your resume by participating in our internship program and gain valuable work experience in real business settings. Students who participate in internships bring a high level of enthusiasm and commitment back to the classroom, returning with a unique awareness of the applicability of their coursework in business environments.

  • Practical Experience

Our marketing courses teach students to research market opportunities, analyze problems, grasp underlying behavioral influences, build teams, manage conflict, and make persuasive oral and written business presentations. Many class projects involve working with real clients to assess their needs, develop marketing plans, and make formal client presentations.

Beyond the classroom, student organizations including the Marketing Club and Pi Sigma Epsilon (sales and marketing coeducational fraternity), provide students with leadership opportunities, professional contacts, and exposure to speakers from business and industry. Students who become involved in these organizations forge lasting relationships with their colleagues and faculty members.

  • The Curriculum

Students' first two years of study provide them with a broad liberal arts base to their business education. This foundation in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics provides our students with a broader life view, communication skills, and an appreciation of different perspectives. General business courses are taken sophomore and junior years.

In their junior year, students gain core marketing skills in three classes: principles of marketing management, consumer behavior, and marketing research. In the senior year, marketing students specialize through courses in either consumer or business marketing. Finally, students integrate and apply their knowledge in a capstone marketing strategy class. Students also select from a range of electives to build a program of study that reflects their unique interests. Many students double major in another area of business or take a concentration in Leadership, in Diversity, or in Global Business.
